This last Saturday I covered my second protest since starting my staff job at Argus Leader Media back in the middle of August.
The protest on Saturday was a little more substantial than my first protest. Close to 30 people were in attendance, and the light was almost just as good.
This protest was a small part in larger protests against Monsanto and Genetically Modified Organisms (or GMOs) that were happening around the globe as a part of March Against Monsanto.
One thing I've always tried to be cognizant of when covering protests where people are carrying signs or posters is what direction they're facing and where the sun is. Protesters' signs can often work like large, white reflectors and bounce beautiful, soft light onto their faces. This protest was no exception, and the signs bounced beautiful light onto the protesters.
Enough about that , though, here are a few of my favorite frames from the assignment. More photos from the assignment can be seen
here.
