SDSU vs. USD (11.16.13)

Today was the showdown game between South Dakota State University and University of South Dakota at the DakotaDome in Vermillion, S.D., which is a place I've become all too familiar with over the last three days while shooting South Dakota State Championship football.

Today's assignment was something different for me, though. College football instead of high school.

I spent the morning covering the tailgate party and my afternoon covering the game.

It was a pretty good day.

I did the usual tailgate party coverage--people playing bean bags, people eating, people grilling, etc.--and then I decided to do something a little different. I shot 10 candid, detail shots of different things that fans were wearing to support their teams.

I think it turned out quite well. I ended up putting nine photos together in a diptych of sorts to illustrate how people support their team.

The game coverage went well, too. Nothing out of the ordinary. SDSU ended up defeating USD 27-12.
